Sonic Colliders: Minor Empire meets Ara Dinkjian – March 25 Montreal

Toronto’s Minor Empire is planning a busy year of new releases and a unique collaborative concert series under the banner Sonic Colliders. The three-part series will see the band performing with world-renowned virtuosos Avi Bortnik, Eivind Aarset, and Ara Dinkjian as they explore and expand on the full spectrum of their vaunted outer-national, Anatolian-inspired soundscapes.

Ara Dinkjian is an Armenian-American oud player from New York City. Throughout his musical life, Ara has continued to develop a highly personal compositional style that seamlessly blends his eastern and western roots. He has recorded four CDs for RCA/BMG and Universal/PolyGram. His body of work demonstrates how music can be progressive and creative while still retaining the dignity and soul of one’s culture. Considered one of the top oud players in the world, his compositions have been recorded in thirteen different languages. Expect an evening of deeply rooted Middle Eastern musical explorations in this special conclusion to the Sonic Colliders series.
